Horse racing: Brighton Racecourse combines top class racing with panoramic views of the sea.

Set high on the Sussex Downs, with stunning views over Brighton and Hove and the English Channel, Brighton Racecourse has, in the words of Channel 4's website, "undoubtedly one of the most picturesque settings of any course".

One of the most intimate racecourses in the country - the horses and riders finish races little more than touching distance away from the crowd - Brighton is THE place to experience the excitement of a big race.

If you've never been racing before you might be wondering whether it's something you'd enjoy.

Close your eyes for a second... Imagine that the sun is shining and you're enjoying a few drinks with friends... You're stood by the rails on the finishing straight as the horses race past at 35mph... The ground is shaking, the crowd behind you in the grandstand are cheering and the hairs on the back of your neck are standing up... You're a winner whether the horse you've backed comes in or not.

We have 18 race meetings between April and October - we hope to welcome you here for at least one of them.
